The Blue-Gold Sideline Medicine for High School Athletes clinic returns in 2008

In recognition of the needs of School Nurses, Athletic Traininers and Physical Therapists to stay up to date with the many aspects of providing immediate medical care to all High School athletes, DFRC is proud to announce the return of the clinical training program Sideline Medicine for High School Athletes. This program will be presents by doctors, nurses, trainers and physical therapists who are volunteers to DFRC's Blue-Gold All*Star Football Game program and will provide information vital to the needs of all high school athletes, not just football players. 2008 Blue-Gold All*Star Football Game

John Carney (center), Delaware's Lt. Governor and a 1974 alumnus of the Blue-Gold All*Star Football Game, completes the ceremonial first ticket purchase for the 2008 DFRC Blue-Gold All*Star Football Game in the Governor's Office in Dover. Mr. Carney made his purchase from Angela Sartin, the Gold All*Star Buddy (seated) and Kaylin Becker (holding ticket), the Blue All*Star Buddy. Joining them are Bruce DiNardo, 2008 Blue-Gold Game Chair, and Jessica Ogden and Patrick McCloskey, both from St. Elizabeth High School.

Buddy Bowling brings Blue-Gold Buddies and Participants together for fun across the state

The Buddy Bowling is the second statewide event in this year's Blue-Gold All*Star Game Hand-In-Hand program. A total of nine bowling centers across the state hosted the Buddies and Senior Participants in 2008.

The high school students, primarily seniors who will be graduating in June 2008, are participants in DFRC's Blue-Gold All*Star Football Game program as Blue-Gold Ambassadors, Band Members, Cheerleaders and Football Players and may elect to have a Buddy as a means to promote understanding, awareness and acceptance.

5th Annual Blue-Gold All*Star 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk event online registration now open

Online registration through Active.com is now available for the 5th annual DFRC Blue-Gold All*Star 5K run and 1 Mile walk event scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the NEW Irish Eyes on Anglers Road in Lewes.

The 5K run event is a part of the Seashore Striders 2008 Championship Series of races, and the 1 mile walk is a family friendly event open to participants of all ages and abilities. For more information, click here.

Saint Mark's, Padua and Salesianum host Blue-Gold Fundraisers on a busy Spring Weekend

Kicking off their Blue-Gold week of activities, the Saint Mark's High School Blue-Gold Club presented their annual fashion show events on Friday, April 4th and Saturday, April 5th.

Padua Academy held it's second Blue-Gold "Bring a Buddy to Bingo Night" on Saturday, June 5th. More than 200 persons of all ages were in attendance for Brother Mike's Bingo Calling, Karate Demonstrations and Karoke performances.

Salesianum School's fourth Blue-Gold 5K Run/Walk included more than 200 runners and walkers participating on a cool and damp morning on Sunday, April 6, 2008.

A. I. du Pont High School Blue-Gold Ambassadors and Student Council hold Faculty-Student Basketball Game and raise $2,100 for DFRC All*Star Program

2008 AI duPont Basketball EventBlue-Gold Ambassadors Kelsey McCormick and Andrea Sierer worked with their student council leadership to organize the event. Alexis I. duPont High School students got the best of the faculty, 47-33, in a co-ed basketball game for charity on March 14.

Students paid $3 to watch the game in lieu of their last period of the day, and A.I. raised $2,100 for DFRC. DFRC sponsors the annual Blue-Gold All*Star Football Game that benefits Delawareans with intellectual disabilities.

2007 Year-End Grants from DFRC exceed $126,000

The Trustees of DFRC have annouced 19 grants totalling $126,900 have been distributed to close out the 2007 Grant Cycles. Total grants monies distributed in 2007 by DFRC were $246,832.
